Still a work in progress for our energetic U23’s Manager Jordan Wheelans.
Having rebuilt an entire team from last season, that factor was the main difference between the two teams.
The visitors well marshalled by the experienced Owen Grau, looked very fluent all over the field, compared with the at times the disjointed play from The Villagers.
The goal came by way of a goalmouth scramble after 7 minutes when BARTOSI OLEJNIN converted from close range.
The home team had their chances which were comfortably dealt with by Taylor Hughes in the visitors goal.
For Melford Chris Kilvington impressed on his home debut, together with his strike partner Jaidan Smith, whilst in goal Tommy Haill had a blinder of a game.
On 57 minutes Stanway had Kingsley Collins red carded, for a pull back under the last man rule, but the resultant Melford free kick came to nothing.
With some basics sorted Melford could be top of the League, simple things like taking too many touches, being more positive with defensive clearances, and above all getting more cohesion into their play. CHENOBERET
