Bullseye! And in his first official game (involved behind the scenes in two previous victories) new Manager “Macca” McConnell with a rebuilt team produced a home win for The Villagers.

With ace striker Ollie Hughes out with a one match ban, Macca brought in keeper George Bugg for the keeper position vacant due to injury and (Ben Moye) holiday, also included influential defender Jamie Barclay, and tricky winger Ollie Ward, whilst  Jacob Brown was back from injury but on the bench.

In truth Melford controlled the first half,  and will have some regrets that they did not convert more of the numerous chances.

The opening goal came after 9 minutes when a shot from ANDREW WOOD hit a Diss defender to find the net.

On 32 minutes after the Assistant had flagged the Referee, Melford were awarded a penalty when Jack Utting was brought down in the area.

Up  stepped the other Melford striking ace ANDREW WOOD to smash the ball past Ex QPR trainee keeper Callum Loades to find the net.

The second half was a different story with Diss having an equal amount of the play, and perhaps Melford getting a little complacent.

The persistence of the visitors was rewarded after 52 minutes when some slack defending  allowed Malachi Wright (former Melford player) to fire in from the Diss right flank, and Alfie  Carroll attempting to clear, sliced to ball into his own net.

The win elevated Melford to 11th position in the League, but harder stuff to come next week when they travel to Holland who boast a 100% record.
