Congratulations to Perry Newman who played his 100th match today as the Under 23s beat Holland.

All credit to Manager Lee Greenwood and his management team, despite a number of players moving on, this “new” team looks dynamic and exciting.

After 4 minutes Melford went ahead a delightful pass from Kyran Quelch released striker JOSH TWARDOWSKI down the right flank and his tremendous strike from the angle found the Holland net.

Minutes later  Will Thorp was unlucky when his goal bound strike was cleared off the line.

In the first real attack by Holland after 17 minutes they levelled, a hesitating Melford defence allowed JOE ROWBOTHAM to pick his spot.

On 26 minutes Holland went ahead a poor clearance caught keeper Frazer Foy off his line and JACK HALE lobbed him from twelve yards out.

On 43 minutes Melford levelled when  KYRON QUELCH  scored with a fine strike from the edge of the Holland area.

Melford started the second half with intent and a great 25 yard free kick from  Will Thorp rattled the Holland cross bar, The Villagers went ahead on  61 minutes when Thorp put JOSH TWARDOWSKI into space and his powerful shot found the net.

On 76 minutes the Melford lead increased when WILL THORP netted a deserved goal.

Just a bit of drama  on 84 minutes when Melford  keeper Frazer Foy in taking a corner cross collided with RORY  KAVANAGH, and the ball  finding the net, the referee deeming the goal to be legal.

Man of the Match for Melford central defender Freddie Bayliss.

LONG MELFORD U23: Frazer Foy,  Theo Boxall, Ethan  Nyatanga, Max Boulter, Freddie Bayliss, Lee Branson, Perry Newman, Ty Williams, Josh Twardowski, Kyron Quelch, Will Thorp

SUBS: Tom Prosser, Bailey Jacobs, Kia Dunning, Aaron Lee Cooper,  Jasper Mullan (GK)
