A good weekend for the Villagers’ first and reserve teams.

The First Team won 4-3 at Burnham Ramblers to advance to the First Round proper of the FA Vase for the first time in nine years.

Jake Jackson scored his first goal since 2015 and Ben Judge (2) and Jamie Griffiths completed the scoring.

The draw for the next round is expected to be released on Monday at 1pm.

Meanwhile at Stoneylands the Reserves continued their unbeaten start to the season by winning 3-1 against Wivenhoe Town.

David Hennessey’s side came from behind to take all three points thanks to goals scored by Kyran Quelch, Joe Andrews and Charlie Waite.

All three goals were assisted by skipper and man of the match Deklyn Roy.

The win lifts Melford up to 3rd in the Thurlow Nunn Reserve League with 10 points from the opening 4 matches.
