Melford retain “Magnificent Seven”

Andy/26 May, 23/589/0
News

First team manager Dave Hennessey has moved quickly to start the retention process ahead of the coming 2023/24 season.

The club are delighted to announce that the following 7 players have already committed their futures to Long Melford for the coming season:

Captain and Players’ Player of the Season; JACOB BROWN

Last season’s top goalscorer; RYAN GIBBS

Manager’s Player of the Season: JAKE JACKSON

Supporters’ Player of the Season; JOSH COLLINS

Fans’ favourites BEN JUDGE, MATT WALKER and DAVID LEADER

The management team will continue speaking to players and a full retained list will be announced in due course.

We got the thoughts of Dave Hennessey on the seven lads mentioned above:

We wanted to move quickly when it came to making sure we were retaining our own players and were very much aware of other clubs showing interest.

In Browny and Jacko we have two lads who played in every game last season. Add to that the firepower that Gibbo gives us, the defensive consistency from Josh and the non-stop work rate of Judgey and it’s fair to say I’m happy with the core group within the club.

In Matt and Dave we have two very good keepers and I look forward to the pre-season battle for the #1 jersey.

Things are progressing very nicely on and off the pitch ahead of next season and I look forward to confirming many more players who are staying with us and who knows, maybe a few new additions too.
