This season’s unbeaten home record remains intact but it’s now three consecutive draws.

NIGHTMARE SECOND HALF FOR THE VILLAGERS, AS MELFORD HELD TO ANOTHER 1-1 DRAW.

In a spooky Halloween fixture at The KBS Groundworks Stadium, Long Melford hosted Diss Town – who recently appointed Joint Managers. The Norfolk side gave Melford a bit of a fright in the  second half.

Melford missed Toby John (1 match ban today, returning next week to Holland), Brandon Sailsbury (4 match ban) and Konnor Oughton (injured in the warm up this afternoon).

In the first half, it was a scrappy game to begin with. Both teams had their fair share of chances, but led to hardly anything. Melford got increasingly more accurate in passing, passing moves and getting the ball in the Diss box.

Then on about 43 minutes, a neat ball into the box by Jamie Barclay found Luke Spurling, Luke’s shot was bouncing in the air but was tipped onto the crossbar by the Diss goalkeeper. Diss failed to clear the ball out of the area, EVAN GLEDHILL nodded home from close range. A goal to go into the half time break for the Melford lads.

The visiting Norfolk side would come out the break being the most dominant team in the second half. Melford did create a few chances, but came to no avail. When it seemed Melford would get another goal around the 60 minute mark, it was the visiting side that get their equaliser on 68 minutes.

Max Voutt’s free kick found JOSH DENNY at the far post to poke the ball past Melford goalkeeper, Finlay Watts. There was a protest from the home side that there was a foul in the box, but the referee denied it and the goal stood.

Then about 15 minutes later, Jack Brame got sent his marching orders with a second yellow card, after what was deemed by the referee, as a late rough challenge on the Diss player. Both teams fought hard for a winning goal in this spooky fixture, but no more real chances to take from the rest of the game.

Another draw for Melford – however, the Villagers remain UNBEATEN at home so far this season. We need the support, bring the noise!!!
