The Macca miracle goes on at Long Melford!

Tonight’s Man of the Match went to Toby John. The award was presented by our Goalkeeping Coach, Darran ‘Irish’ McCarrick (photo: Jordan Maynard).

This win against Needham Market Reserves takes Melford into 6th position in the league table, albeit with other teams having games in hand.

The game was dominated by Melford, and perhaps on the debit side they should have scored more goals.

The only other down side for Melford was that ace striker Brandon Salisbury had to leave the field, with a hamstring injury.

The best goal of the game came after the visitors took the lead after 27 minutes.

In a rare Needham attack the Melford defence gave time for DANIEL THOMPSON, to fire home a peach of a goal from outside the Melford penalty box.

Melford created chance after chance,  but were unable to find the net.

Two minutes before half time Melford levelled after a frenetic scramble in the Needham box  KONNOR OUGHTON, off the subs bench for Melford scored from close range.

The pattern of play continued through the second half with  Melford taking the lead after 49 minutes when in another goalmouth melee  BRANDON  McKAY forced the ball into the net.

On 83 minutes Melford made sure when from a corner KONNOR OUGHTON converted  and made it a brace,  and for Melford a comfortable  third goal.

The Villagers travel to Framlingham on Saturday for what should be a very tough game against a high flying team

LONG MELFORD: Moye. Straw, John, Bareham, Carroll, Glover, Ward, Whiting-Noakes, Salisbury, Brown (capt), McKay
