The fine run of eight games without defeat came to an abrupt end for Melford at the hands of a youthful Sudbury team.
Although Melford created two good chances in the opening minutes, other than the final twenty minutes of the game, they played well below their normal standard.
On 24 minutes a rash challenge by Melford keeper Ben Moye, saw the referee point to the penalty spot, and KANE MUNDAY, fired into the net from the spot.
The home team were good value for their lead, and two good saves by keeper Moye, one from home skipper Ollie Okeh kept Melford in the game.
The second period was better for Melford and they started to get a grip on the midfield, where Sudbury had a good first half control.
With Melford vulnerable down the Sudbury flanks the home team went further ahead on 57 minutes when Munday found space down the Melford left flank and his neat pulled back pass found ETHAN ROGERS on the edge of the Melford box, and he fired past the diving Moye in the Melford goal.
It was not be another miracle recovery from Melford!
On 73 minutes after a scramble in the Sudbury box BRANDON McKAY found the net for Melford.
Upping their tempo Melford tried hard to retrieve the game, with a McKay shot hitting the crossbar and a header from Rio Simpson inches wide. But is was not to be.
