Long Melford captain Jacob Brown was awarded Man of the Match in today’s win against 5th-placed Wroxham Reserves.
The victory stretches Melford’s unbeaten run to six matches and keeps “Macca” McConnell’s resurgent team in 7th place. Match report:
What a transformation in a few months! And playing like a TEAM!
Wroxham with some former Norwich City Scholars, were second best most of the match to the well drilled Melford team.
Hopefully some of the missing fans will return to support the team next Saturday when The Villagers take on League Leaders Holland FC at the KBS Groundworks Stadium ko 1500 hours.
The game started with chances at both ends Jordan Forbes firing wide for the visitors whilst the twin Bs, Brandon Salisbury and Brandon McKay for Melford always kept the Wroxham defence on their toes.
An excellent run by Lucas Densley saw his excellent run wasted when he shot wide of the Melford goal.
The second half saw Melford increase the tempo and they deservedly took all three points.
After 57 minutes Melford took the lead through a wonder goal from BRANDON McKAY, the ball found the Melford frontman 35 yards from goal and his strike rocketed in the net giving Benji Hopself in the Wroxham goal no chance. A goal of great quality.
The second followed on 80 minutes, a free kick from Brendan Salisbury deflected in the Wroxham box and super sub KONNOR OUGHTON scored with a bullet header from five yards.
A fully deserved victory for Melford, who host League Leaders Holland FC at the KS Groundworks Stadium, your support would be appreciated.
Melford also welcomed back Jack Brame who is assisting in coaching role at the Club. CHENOBERET
