Goodbye, 2025
It’s fair to say 2025 was a challenging year for the club.
Relegation from Step 5 paled into insignificance compared to the death of our beloved chairman, Geoff Thomas.
Nearly all of last year’s squad moved on in the summer and a total re-build began under new chairman Mick Garbi and new manager Macca McConnell.
We signed off 2025 on a positive note. A run of 5 unbeaten games on the field, and the introduction of a great Main sponsor to the Club.
KBS Groundworks although based in the Bury St Edmunds they are an international contracting GroupĀ carrying out works all over Europe.
They also have a Pub Group Bella Pubs Group with at the moment 4 pubs in the local area.
The Hon President of Long Melford FC, Richard Kemp said how delighted he was to see Rebecca and Keven Swales on board at LMFC and he looked forward to a great and fulfilling partnership over the future years.
Looking ahead to 2026, we currently sit 7th in the table. Pushing for a play-off place will be tough because of our slow start to the season. We are obviously playing catch up.
However, optimism has returned to the club under new management. Saturday’s emphatic win at title contenders Kings Park Rangers shows what this squad is capable of.
Happy New Year from us all at Long Melford FC.
