U23s Manager Jordan Wheelans is still working hard to create a perfect team.
Injuries and holidays, meant that Jordan had four new signings on view Saturday.
The fact that Jordan has been unable to play a fixed team showed on Saturday against a more established Little Oakley team, who took advantage of poor Melford defending to press home to a victory.
The first goal came after 21 minutes when JACK ELVESTAD, was given a tap in pass from Finley Murphy who turned his marker very easily.
On 38 minutes the second arrived a fine run by FINLEY MURPHY, sadly unchallenged by the Melford defence, saw him score a fine individual goal.
Melford had chances but lacked cutting edge, so posed little threat to Aiden Downs in the visiting goal.
Soon after the second half resumption Melford got a goal back, when sub RICKY WOODS netted.
The final goal came for Oakley after some keystone kop defending by Melford and JACK ELVESTAD secured his second goal.
Towards the end of the game Melford hit the bar with a Sennen Sultan shot, but Oakley ran out deserved winners.
Melford desperately need a couple or more experienced players to bring out their full potential. CHENOBERET
