Friendly Fire!
An update on the club’s pre-season friendlies so far.
With many triallists involved we won’t mention the scorers by name but here’s a few details of each match.
The opening double header last Saturday at West Wratting ended in a 2-2 draw for the 1st Team and a 3-1 defeat for the U23s.
This was followed by Friday night’s 1-0 win for the 1st Team at home to Haverhill Rovers (newly promoted to the Thurlow Nunn Premier).
It was a well balanced match, with Melford fielding a host of triallists and being minus five of what would be first team starters.
Overall for Melford a promising display, playing with speed and fluency. With triallist B converting on 87 minutes, with a fine shot that beat the Haverhill keeper all ends up.
The next day (Saturday) we made the short journey to Cockfield United and won 5-0.
New Under 23s Manager Jordan Wheelans again had plenty of triallists on show, so due to that fact goal scorers are not mentioned.
In overall terms Melford played some brilliant football, showing great skills and fluency and speed in movement.
Things are looking very good for Jordan Wheelans and his team!
