Some excellent football from Melford, but frustratingly no positive end to the game.

The opening minutes saw an evenly matched encounter, with both teams playing some entertaining football.

The opening goal came after nine minutes, when the talented ASHLEY JARVIS ran along the edge of the Melford penalty area, without any real challenge and from twenty yards his powerful strike found the top of the Melford net with Matt Walker in the Melford goal well beaten.

On 15 minutes Walker did well to save a deflected shot from Tom Hunter the visitors full back.

Melford were repeatedly on the attack forcing several corners after some good work by Jordan Gibbs, a scorching effort from Harry Whiting-Noakes saw a fine diving save from Tom Wright in the Mulbarton goal.

On 26 minutes Melford almost levelled when from a Whiting-Noakes corner a powerful header from Jacob Brown, hit the crossbar and rebounded back into play.

At the other end  keeper Walker produced a great save from Jarvis in a one to one position and shortly after that another Mulbarton effort was cleared off the goal line.

At the start of the second half Melford again  defended well when Jake Jackson headed clear from just under the Melford crossbar.

Really Melford should have got a goal back when Clarence Emeh got through on goal but couldn’t make a decisive connection with the ball.

Melford will not be pleased with the second goal, some keystone kop defending on the Melford right flank which allowed Mulbarton to find  the Melford penalty area, and eventually PETER LAMBERT found half a  touch towards goal, and somehow the ball screwed past the otherwise excellent keeper Matt Walker, into the net.

In a tenacious and fighting finish to the game,  Melford were unable to find the Mulbarton net and so all the points were lost, much to the frustration of all in the Melford camp. CHENOBERET
