Melford boss tackles marathon!
The season will have barely come to a close on Saturday April 22nd and you’d certainly forgive Long Melford manager Dave Hennessey if he decided a deserved break was in order.
But no, not this guy. Less than 24 hours after the final whistle at Mulbarton he will be on the start line of the 2023 London Marathon which he is running to raise money for Children with Cancer.
Training has been tough and having to fit runs in around fixtures, football training and constantly washing kits has been challenging but we wish Dave every success on the day.
Dave had this to say ahead of race day when asked if he’s prepared and ready to go:
No, not really! Training has been hard and I’ve had a couple of lost weeks to injury which haven’t helped. I’d be lying if I said the thought of quitting hadn’t crossed my mind because it has, but then I think about all the money being raised for charity and I get the boost I need. Thank you to all that have sponsored me so far, and if you haven’t done so yet, why not?

- Dave is also hosting his annual charity football match on May 7th but more on that after his marathon exploits!
