James Dormady scored a brace in the Reserves’ first match of 2022.
On a grim dark and cold day, The Villagers reserve team brought some cheer to the bleak surrounds, with a victory that consolidated their position at the top of the Thurlow Nunn Reserve Division.
Both teams looked ring rusty to use a boxing term, but gradually Melford with the arrival of the second half, started to show their talents and ran out worthy winners.
Highlight of the first half was an Alfie Parnell 42nd minute strike from 36 yards which left Finn Watts in the Hadleigh goal marooned.
Although it was not a one sided game, both Max Tate and Kyle Brown were off target for the visitors when well placed.
The second half belonged to Melford and eventually their pressure paid off with JAMES DORMADY placing his shot in the net after 67 minutes, and on 75 minutes JAMES DORMADY got his second when he beat keeper Watts to a through ball to slide the ball into the net.
