Nathan Bartlett on last night’s U18 win

The young Villagers fought back from two goals down to beat Sporting 87 last night.

U18 Manager Nathan Bartlett was pleased with the way his side responded after a disappointing first half.

It was a real game of two halves. Despite a strong opening 10 minutes from us, Sporting took the lead, which led to us slowly fading and struggling to make any impact. Sporting went on to make it two before half time.

Second half the lads came out with real intent. Attack after attack which eventually paid off after we were awarded a penalty, which James Dormady tucked away before really asserting himself on the game which led him to get his second, after a neat one two with Ollie Soar.

The evening and second half performance was capped off by a 90th minute winner after a fantastic counter attack which saw James running onto a threw ball down the right hand side, taking it to the by-line before crossing it to find the head of Morgan Waldock who headed home to claim all three points.

Full time: Long Melford 3 – 2 Sporting 87
Team: Alex Utteridge, Robert Dormady, Brandon Coyne, Ben Gooderham, Joseph Southon, Matthew Pinkus, James Dormady, Hugo Hertz, Ronnie Ward, Tommy King, Ollie Soar
Subs: Freddie Bagrie, Callum Devereux, Oliver Bloomfield, Thomas Day, Morgan Waldock
Goals: James Dormady (2), Morgan Waldock
