Jamie Griffiths struck late to earn a point against 4th-placed Mulbarton Wanderers yesterday.
Mulbarton had taken an early lead through Tim Henery from the penalty spot. Up until Griffiths’ late leveller, it was a frustrating day in front of goal for Melford, who hit the woodwork twice.
Max Boulter, stepping up from the Reserves to replace the unavailable Matt Walker, made some excellent saves on his Thurlow Nunn Premier debut.
Long Melford Reserves’ were undone by a very late goal in a 2-1 defeat at Stowmarket Town yesterday.
Stowmarket scored a last minute winner to end Dave Hennessey’s side’s unbeaten start to the season.
Perry Newman was on the scoresheet for Melford, Ismail Marshall with the assist.
There was an impressive debut for for U18’s keeper Alex Utteridge who made some fine saves.
