Tom Rumsey and Dom Greetham

New Under-18s Managerial Duo Confirmed

We are delighted to confirm the recruitment of our new managerial duo for our Under-18s team here at Stoneylands.

Tom Rumsey and Dom Greetham will take over from Mick Garbi when he leaves the club at the end of the season.

Long-term friends Tom and Dom, based in Ipswich, both played locally before turning their attention to coaching in recent years.

They currently coach at Chantry Grasshoppers and are looking forward to the opportunity to continue their development in their new role at Long Melford.

Their first job will be the upcoming Under-18s trial days on 13th and 20th May, as they look to build a squad and retain players from the current group to compete in the Thurlow Nunn Youth League next season.

“We’re both delighted to join Long Melford Football Club and proud to be given the opportunity to be part of the future plans of the club moving forward,” said Tom.

“We will strive to win football matches and create an honest and hard-working mentality to give the players the best chance to progress into the club’s reserves and first team.

“We will also be looking to work closely with Long Melford Colts and Fillies and ensure we have a clear pathway for young local players from U7s right through to the first team.”

First team manager Jamie Bradbury added: “We had a number of very good candidates for the position, but after speaking at length to Tom and Dom, Dave Hennessey and I both felt they were a great fit for what we are hoping to do here at Stoneylands.

“While first team progress is our main objective every season, it’s vital for a club like us to be able to work together to develop within, and that requires solid foundations of good people who will enable players to flourish.

“The club is pushing forward on and off the pitch and we are pleased that Tom and Dom will be a part of that.”

If you are looking to play Under-18s football next season, or know someone who is, drop us a line via the contact form here and book a place in one of our trial days on 13th or 20th May.
