King Konnor!

Konnor Oughton came off the bench to score twice and change the complexion of today’s match against Dussindale Rovers.

It was a careful start to the game from Long Melford with memories of a 5-1 defeat at the start of last season against the visitors from Norfolk.

Melford had three regulars missing but introduced two recent signings, ex Sudbury Academy player Alfie Lambert and Owen Walton-Ross who played a couple of games last season.

Melford went behind after four minutes Ben Churchill pursuing a long ball wrestled Melford full back Seth Garza to the ground,  Melford stopped in their tracks expecting a free kick, the referee thought otherwise, and that allowed BEN CHURCHILL to go on and fire past Ben Moye in the Melford goal.

On 18 minutes Melford levelled a Walton-Ross free kick found Logan Bell, and his header found finally RYAN TWINN who fired home.

The game progressed with Melford missing some golden chances, and the visitors doing likewise in two goalmouth scrambles.

Melford changed personnel, and shortly after super sub KONNOR OUGHTON made his mark on the game, scoring two great goals after 68 minutes and 86 minutes to secure the points for The Villagers.
