Long Melford’s third win in four games lifts them to 9th in the table to keep in touch with the play-off positions.

Melford Manager “Macca” McConnell with leading scorer Ollie Hughes sidelined through  injury, brought in  new signing Brandon Salisbury into the  starting line up.

It was a dull first half punctuated with niggly fouls and little in the way of football.

Against the run of play early on, Diss threatened with Charlie Webb and the excellent Martin Natongwe, but Ben Moye the Melford keeper  was in a superb form.

On 23 minutes  Melford hit he bar an excellent 30 yard  free  kick from Harry Whiting-Noakes failing  to dip a little more.

Melford always looked lively up front with the hard running Brandon McKay and Brandon Salisbury showing a good work rate.

The home team should have gone ahead on 33 minutes when with an open goal  Benji Blyth fired over the bar.

It was a much better second half with Melford playing some nice flowing football.

The first goal came on 59 minutes  when  Jahjah Straw played in BRANDON  McKAY down the left flank and he outpaced the home defence to fire home from the angle.

On 71 minutes  Melford went two goals to the good a muddle in the Diss defence saw  CHARLIE GLOVER  score from close range.

The home team got a goal back on 80 minutes a scramble in the Melford penalty area saw CHARLIE WEBB convert from close range.

The Villagers struck  back on 82 minutes a free kick from the left flank  found  TAYLOR BUNNAGE and his back header gave keeper Callum Loades no chance to find the corner of the net. A deserved first goal for the Melford youngster.

However  the game was not finished and in the extra added 7 minutes  REGAN  STRUTTON-ALLSOP   found the net for  Diss Town.

This win takes Melford to joint 9th place in the League. Should be a great game next Saturday when Melford take on 3rd placed Framlingham  Town at home
