In real terms this game was lost for Long Melford within the opening 11 minutes.

The visitors Cockfosters who play at a higher level signalled their intent from the kick off with some fine attacking football and the visitors put Melford to the sword.

The first goal came after 3 minutes, with Melford looking for an offside flag, a poor clearance allowed  KENDALL GYAMFI to rifle home from close range.

This stunned the Melford defence and after 8 minutes Cockfosters went further ahead, a lucky rebound fell into the path of  KENDALL  GYAMFI  for his second goal.

It certainly was a day to forget for Melford and on  11 minutes  the visitors were awarded a penalty for a foul in the Melford box,  GEORGE BEATTIE converted to give  Cockfosters a handsome lead.

Melford battled hard but in truth the visitors were just too good.

In the second half quick break down the Melford left flank  and a ball to the back post fund substitute  TERRY OFFEH who converted a simple tap in.

Keeper Ben Moye had a fine game for Melford.

Melford will have to bury this memory of a poor defeat, and look forward to Wednesday September 24th when they entertain  Haverhill Borough at Stoneylands (7.45pm ko)
