A hard fought League Cup victory against a young and fluid Academy team from Leiston, who had a sprinkling of first team players in their team.

On chances the first period saw Leiston have more chances with both teams finding the woodwork with shots.

Young Tommy Haill in the Melford goal had a great game.

Melford included three new signings in their squad.

The decisive goal came after 52 minutes when a great ball from Jeckson Rosa, found OLLIE HUGHES  in space, who calmly slotted the ball past keeper Marcus Mehew into the net.

Chances fell at both ends but an improved Melford took it to a victory level.

Up next is Saturday’s home game against Diss Town (3pm kick off at Stoneylands) which will be new manager Martin “Macca” McConnell’s first match in the dugout.
