With injuries affecting his squad, Manager Lee Greenwood brought in new signing  Jimmy Baker, who in a defensive role had an impressive debut.

Wivenhoe perched a few places above Melford in the League (although Melford have games in hand) meant this was a game for Melford to win.

It was not to be and even the most ardent Melford supporter would be hard pressed to argue that the final result was but  a just reward for the visitors.

It was a great start from Melford attacking with flair and conviction but sadly no end result.

The visitors came into the game and after 11 minutes went ahead  when  SCOTT GRANT lobbed keeper Frazer Foy, from a left flank position.

Soon after in another attack Wivenhoe saw another effort hacked off the Melford  goal line.

The half ended with some end to end efforts but no further score.

On 57 minutes The Villagers levelled a well taken free kick from the Melford left flank, was deftly headed home  by  KYRAN QUELCH. The visitors went ahead after 66 minutes when  OSKAR POWELL  found the Melford net.

A third goal came after  81 minutes  when HARRY MACKENZIE  glided past three Melford defenders, and his shot from the outside of his right boot curled into the Melford net from 22 yards, a quality goal. Melford fought back and after some goal mouth scrambles in the dying minutes  KYRAN QUELCH scored a carbon copy of his first goal to close the gap for Melford.
