Lee Greenwood appointed U23 manager
The club is pleased to confirm the appointment of Lee Greenwood as Long Melford Reserves/U23s Manager.
Next season the Reserves will take on a Development role as Under 23s with a sprinkling of experienced players.
Geoff Thomas, club chairman, had this to say about the new appointment:
With Darren Thomas leaving the club at the end of the season to pursue other interests we have interviewed various applicants for Coaching and Management roles as we continue to build. We have appointed Lee Greenwood, who was Assistant Manager with the Reserves, to the role of Manager which I believe he is ideally suited for with his experience. We feel that Lee has many good ideas and will continue making the team progress and develop the younger players who hopefully will soon be knocking on the door for first team selection. Under Darren and Lee the Reserves finished 5th in the league which was an excellent position maintaining the great progress of the season before. Under Lee’s direction I know that the team will continue to progress.
We also asked Lee to say a few words about his new role:
I’m delighted to have the opportunity, to take Long Melford FC into the new era as Under 23’s manager. I would like to thank Geoff Thomas and David Hennessey for this great privilege. I relish the challenge and look forward to working with a young squad and being part of their development to hopefully progress them into the first team. I bring with me the experience of Paul Harvey who has been in football for over 50 years and a mentor through my time in football. Together we hope to add to our management team and drive this squad and the club onto bigger and better days.
