Long Melford Reserves went out of the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup on penalties.

After such a long time without a game Long Melford started strongly and found themselves ahead early on with a first time pass from Ismail Marshall setting up Ricky Verdades who slotted the ball nicely into the Beccles goal.
The away team battled throughout and were rewarded for their hard work when a corner led to a mistake by the Melford captain who was unfortunate to see the ball come off him and into the goal putting the away side level.
The second half saw Melford continue to have good possession and they could have been in the lead when a through ball was met by Chris Collins only for the shot to go narrowly wide.
Chris Collins never say die attitude almost won the game for the home team in the last few minutes when he just beat the Beccles keeper to the ball only for the keeper to narrow the angle well and get his body in the way.
The match finished 1-1 and went straight to penalties. There were some excellent penalties taken from both sides with the Beccles keeper making a good save at the end meaning they won 8-7 on penalties putting the away side into the next round.
