Long Melford Reserves manager Darren Thomas looks back on the recent matches against Whitton and Woodbridge.

Whitton United (away, 8th Oct), League, Lost 0-1

Both teams started OK and were very competitive in central midfield. We won the ball back well but struggled to get any fluid movement in the final third. Whitton scored a goal which then opened up the game as we pushed forward leaving them a little open on the counter. There was then a few chances at both ends but no more goals. Not the best game you will see all season as neither team really played any great football in this match.

LONG MELFORD RES: Boulter, Coy, Hertz, Mabugu, Marshall, Parnell, Quelch, Shillingford, T Williams, Yiasemis, C Collins

Subs all used: R Dormady, Odili, Saunders, Spurling

Woodbridge Town (home, 15th Oct), Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup, Won 2-1

Both teams started well but a run down the left from Woodbridge No 11 brought a foul gifting a penalty to the away team, which they dispatched. We fought hard and had a few chances to get level first half but they were not taken.
Melford came out second half and used the ball really well. Once we got the equaliser from a bullet shot from Ricky Verdades we went pushing for the winner. Woodbridge dug in and got forward at times but a throw in led to Kyran Quelch holding off the challenge and smashing a shot into the top corner from just outside the 18 yard box, giving the home team a well deserved but hard fought win.
