A summary of yesterday’s pre-season action involving two Long Melford teams.

LONG MELFORD 3 – 2 DEDHAM OLD BOYS

Fielding a mixed team including several trialists, Melford had plenty of the ball but went in at half-time two goals down. The first came from a free kick from Fuller after 3 minutes, and the second a rebounding shot on 43 minutes scored by King.

After several near misses Melford got a goal back though Jack Delaune after 55 minutes, on 83 minutes the leveller came when A TRIALIST headed home a corner from Perry Newman. On 86 minutes a lobbed ball into the box from Sam Newton, was volleyed home by Jacob Brown.

WEST WRATTING RES. 0 – 0 LONG MELFORD RES.

Reserve team manager Darren Thomas was pleased with the performance from a squad that included four U18 players. Melford had the lion’s share of possession but couldn’t quite find the winner.
