Young Villagers return with derby win

Match ReportsU18s

After a lengthy winter break the Under 18s returned to action with a 2-1 win at Cornard United last night.

Cornard took the lead through Luke Spurling, but Melford hit back with a brace from James Dormady to take all three points.

The match was watched by an impressive crowd of 90 and Villagers’ manager Nathan Bartlett was pleased to see his team finally back in action:

What a way to restart the season after a long break. A nice win over our local rivals. It was a very competitive game but great to have this feeling back.

Last night’s victory leaves the Under 18s in 9th position in the Thurlow Nunn Youth League (South) with 13 points from 12 matches.

Looking ahead to Saturday, the First Team are away to Whitton United, while at Stoneylands the Reserves host Diss Town – both are 3pm kick offs.
