News round-up from Stoneylands

Andy/13 Aug, 21/967/0
News

It was a disappointing FA Cup exit for the Villagers on Wednesday but we would like to thank everyone who came along to support the team.

In particular we would like to thank the many volunteers who ensured the evening ran smoothly. It is a difficult transition period at the moment with the old facilities mostly demolished and the new clubhouse not quite ready to open, so it was not an easy task to host an FA Cup tie. Credit to everyone involved on Wednesday night.

The match itself saw Kirkley & Pakefield deservedly progress to the next round in what was a very different match to the 1-1 draw at Kirkley on Saturday.

Earlier in the week the Under 18s under the temporary management of first team manager Jamie Bradbury and reserve team manager David Hennessey travelled to Witham Town for the opening league match.

Although it was a 2-1 defeat for Melford, it was a very encouraging performance. Ronnie Ward scored the Melford goal.
