Report

Minus six of the regular squad it was a battling end to the season for Melford.

The draw gives them a 50 point tally and 11th position in the League.

The Villagers opened in great style knocking the ball around with assurance, but their great football lacked in the telling final pass.

Gradually the home team got more into the game, with Melford keeper Matt Walker excelling with a fine diving save to keep the score line  intact.

At the other end Ryan Gibbs grazed the Mulbarton crossbar with a cross, the Melford striker leaving the field  later during the game as he was unwell.

On 42 minutes Melford went behind, a long ball from Dom Doggett, was met at the edge of the area by keeper Walker, but took an uneven bounce over the keeper’s head, central defender Deklyn Roy appeared to have cleared to safety but in came JOE EASTON at speed to convert at the far post.

It was double trouble for Melford in the second half, when on 48 minutes a long ball over the top from Easton, saw BEN THOMPSON beat keeper Walker to the ball to slot home.

The Melford keeper then made a fine save from Amon Kutsirayl to keep Melford in the game.

This seem to sting Melford into action and after they had two close misses, on 57 minutes JACOB  BROWN got forward to convert for Melford.

On 69 minutes Hassan Ally fired in an excellent cross and the goal bound header from Brown, was defended by Joshua Pond, by deploying his arm.

Up stepped HASSAN ALLY to fire home from the penalty spot.

It was Melford  in the driving seat now. but the winner could not be found, but a very creditable performance in a an entertaining game.
