Report

From the tiger like fighting performance against Lakenheath on Saturday, The Villagers reduced into a subdued pussy cat display.

Up against a vibrant Norwich Utd side, who put in a supercharged performance, Melford slipped to their heaviest home defeat of the season.

Although Norwich dominated the first half, Melford coped well defensively with again Matt Walker in the Melford goal in top form.

Kicking towards the Meetings Field end second half, Melford would have fancied their chances, but it was not to be. Plenty of corners gained but over the whole game only two real shots at goal.

It was some clinical finishing aided by the fast passing style of football that gave Norwich their just rewards in the second half.

The first goal came on 61 minutes when the impressive MICHAEL CAMPBELL was given the freedom of the Melford box and he fired powerfully into the Melford net.

The second came after 70 minutes when a left wing cross was not intercepted and JAKE SPOONER had a simple tap in at the far post.

On  74 minutes the final goal arrived a peach of pass from Haydn Davis to Campbell, saw the striker let in CHARLIE BARBER and his shot from an acute angle went into the net via Deklyn Roy the Melford centre back.

Not a great last home game for Melford, let’s hope they improve when they visit Mulbarton this coming Saturday for the final game of the season.
