Report
Olly Hughes opened his account for Long Melford who secured their first win of the new season.
After two defeats Melford at last tasted success, although the scoreline again reflected two gift goals to the opposition.
The visitors who only appointed a Manager two weeks ago, fielded a very youthful side.
The first half was evenly balanced with Melford still not into any fluent style of play.
The Villagers were kicking towards the river end with a stiff down pitch wind in their faces.
On 29 minutes Melford broke quickly from defensive mode, with Will Thorp being played in down the left flank, and his excellent pull back from the by line found the evergreen OLLY HUGHES who finished from close range.
On 41 minutes Holbeach levelled an inswinging corner saw keeper Jack Lines impeded, and all the Melford keeper could do was to help the ball into the net.
The second half saw Melford take a grip of the game, going ahead on 74 minutes when a Jed Jackson corner from the Melford left flank saw TOIB ADEYEMI head home.
It looked all complete on 84 minutes when Jacob Brown broke free down to the Melford right flank byline and his pullback found OLLY HUGHES for another close range finish, a replication of the first goal of the game.
Another early Christmas gift on the full time whistle saw Melford keeper Lines rush off his line to clear miss the ball completely, leaving a simple conversion for KENZIE LEE and an unexpected bonus for Holbeach. CHENOBERET
