Ben Moye’s save helped Long Melford win 4-3 on penalties to beat Bungay Town and advance to the next round of the Suffolk Senior Cup.

Before the start of the game there was a one minute’s silence in memory of the tragic loss of 3 year old  Noah Woods at Brantham.

The visitors who have ambitions of progressing from the Anglian Combination League to the Thurlow Nunn League and came intent of replicating their 1935 victory over Melford in the FA Amateur Cup.

Overall the first half was an even affair, with both teams displaying some wasteful finishing.

The second half saw Melford have a golden ten minutes, when they hit the bar and had two efforts cleared off the line, plus Jack Graham through on goal being thwarted by keeper Jack Trowbridge. That was repeated the other end when Ben Moye dived bravely to save in a one on one situation.

So to the dreaded penalty shootout. Melford lost on penalties in the FA Vase last month but this time came out on top.

Melford went ahead from a Ben Moye save, only to see Jack Trowbridge do similar for Bungay Town. Sadly for the visitors they lost out when their penalty taker blazed a kick over the bar.
