Long Melford Reserves moved up to 3rd in the table after beating Wivenhoe at Stoneylands.
Melford Manager DazĀ Thomas had a headache before the start, with two late call offs and with fit goalkeepers at a premium in the Club, 41 year old Lee Greenwood, vacated his assistant manager’s job to don the gloves, that despite having two broken toes!
Melford went ahead after 38 minutes when C J GLOVER finished in excellent fashion.
After 49 minutes Wivenhoe were awarded a penalty, but keeper Greenwood made a fine save from George Horrex.
Melford finished off the job on 76 minutes when a free kick was headed back across the box by Tyler Shillingford for ALEX BAKER to head home a debut goal.
Under difficult circumstances a good all round performance.
