Report

Long Melford moved up to 9th thanks to goals from Ben Humphreys (pictured) and Lewis Brennan.

Before the game Melford had two blows when Hassan Ally was injured in the warm-up and Josh Collins was held up in traffic in the London area.

There was a full debut for Carlos Lazar who recently signed from Debenham LC.

Although Melford dominated throughout, the hero of the night was Whitton keeper Alfie Godbold who made several terrific saves, and kept the score line static for a long period.

Early in the game Keiron Double tested out Max Boulter in the Melford goal, while Melford piled on the pressure foiled by numerous goal line clearances and if not the heroics of keeper Godbold.

The closest Melford came was a shot from Lewis Brennan that hit the Whitton crossbar.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, Melford firing again against the crossbar and goal post.

On 70 minutes the breakthrough for Melford came when through a ruck of players LEWIS BRENNAN fired home.

This was followed by a fine goal from BEN HUMPHREYS on 85 minutes, and sandwiched in between Melford had two goals disallowed..

Back to winning ways for The Villagers, ready to try and avenge their heavy defeat away to Sheringham, who are the visitors to Stoneylands this Saturday (3pm kick off).

LONG MELFORD: Max Boulter, Charlie Holmes, Ben Judge, Jake Jackson, Carlos Lazar, Lewis Brennan, Frederico Dende, Harry Whiting-Noakes, Ryan Gibbs, Jacob Brown, Perry Newman
