How things can change within the space of a few days! Last Saturday at Kirkley, Melford had enough chances to win the match, but the replay proved to be the opposite.
The Villagers were second best most of the game, and were lucky to go in at half time with only a goal deficit. Melford struggled to find any fluency and cohesion, and really much of the first half was one way traffic. Keeper Cody Skeggs was perhaps fortunate to get a yellow card after a tackle on Kyle Haylock just on the edge of the area.
The visitors gained a deserved lead after 39 minutes a long throw into the Melford box was not cleared and eventually it was bundled home by CAMERON RUSSELL.
The home team improved in the second period and on 53 minutes had a golden chance when Alfie Parnell crossed into the Kirkley box but Ben Judge fired high and wide from 6 yards.
Soon after this Melford did find the net but the rather fussy official disallowed the goal as a kid’s ball was on the pitch.
The end to a disaster evening came for Melford when DANNY CONROY scored from close range, in the dying minutes and added time CAMERON RUSSELL claimed his second and in the final minute of added time OLIVER LIMBURY added a fourth for Kirkley. CHENOBERET
