Report
After an even first half this game could have gone in any direction in the end.
Melford had the benefit of a 23rd minute goal, when a nicely flighted Jamie Griffiths corner saw ROSS WAUGH rise well to head powerfully into the net.
At the other end a Adrian O’Hara free kick hit the Melford crossbar and went out of play.
The second half saw Haverhill pile on the pressure and Melford lived dangerously. The best chance fell to Ryan Weaver but from close range he fired against the bar.
It was not all one way traffic and the Villagers had a good chance to double their lead when David Lopez played in Ben Judge, but keeper James Philp made a point blank save.
Just before the end Melford substitute George Day saw his great shot hit the Haverhill crossbar, with keeper Philp beaten.
After a great performance on Saturday, Melford were under par tonight but still able to grind out a win, whilst Haverhill will feel they deserved something from the game.
