Long Melford Reserves slipped to a narrow defeat in their first league match.
Melford were depleted due to injuries, holidays and a music festival weekend but started strongly for the first 10 minutes but were struggling in the final third to create any meaningful opportunities. Bad defending cost Melford two goals in the first half.
In the second half Melford came out and played a lot better but Walsham defended well and were able to keep Melford at bay until a free kick was given 25 yards out and Kalum Benham curled the shot into the top corner of the net.
A brave effort from a young Melford side but Walsham had that bit more quality and experience on the day.
