News from around Stoneylands
A news round-up from around the club over the past week.
MIDWEEK MATCHES: The first team drew 1-1 at Lakenheath last night. Lakenheath were a goal up at half-time from the penalty spot but Melford equalised midway through the second half through Hassan Ally’s looping header diverting George Day’s 25 yard volley. Match report to follow. The Reserves match was postponed after a late call-off from our opponents, Whitton United.
WELCOME AMELIA-MAE: The club is delighted to welcome the latest Villager to the fold following the arrival on Thursday of Amelia-Mae Emsden. Amelia-Mae’s dad is, of course, first team midfielder Ollie and we congratulate him and his partner Sarah-Kate on the new addition to their home team.
UNDER 18S UPDATE: The Young Villagers wrapped up their season on Thursday night with a 5-1 defeat to Brantham. Ronnie Ward, who has been part of the first team squad during the last few weeks, netted the Villagers goal from the spot.
WELCOME JORDAN: A warm welcome to Jordan Maynard who has joined the volunteer team at Stoneylands. Jordan lives in Glemsford and is now a regular face at most home games.
CHARITY MATCH: On Sunday 1st May, we will be hosting a charity football match organised by Reserves manager Dave Hennessey. Family and friends take to the pitch to battle it out for the Hennessey Charity Shield as they seek to raise money for Children with Cancer. Last time out they raised over £1500. Gates open at 1pm, kick off 3pm tickets available on the day, Adults £10, Children £5 Under 3’s free. Let’s show them just how charitable we are!
