The game never reached great heights and in the end the outcome was the right result.
Both teams created numerous chances but were lacking a finisher on the day.
The Villagers arrived at the ground with two late call offs David Lopez and Billy Gray due to the Covid crisis.
The first period generally saw Melford have a slight advantage, but lacking the vital ingredient a goal.
As in most games Jamie Griffiths was a thorn in the flesh of the Brantham defence, but his two efforts one flashed wide of the Brantham goal and the other was saved by Luke Avenell the home keeper.
Little was seen of the Brantham attack with two efforts of note, one a shot from ex Bury Town player Luke Ingram, whilst the lively Luke Mayhew, the best player on view for Brantham, had two efforts blocked by the Melford defence.
The second half seemed to provide a tonic for the Brantham team and twice the bar came to rescue of Melford in the opening minutes, whilst at the other end Melford responded with a strike against the Brantham post.
It was one of those annoying games where if the game extended to even double the ninety minutes, there would have been doubts whether either team would have scored.
There was a 93rd minute scare for Melford when a Brantham free kick taken by Alfie Owen-Jones, yes you have guessed it! It rapped the Melford cross bar. CHENOBERET
