Sometimes in football as in life in general, it is difficult to explain why situations occur that on the basis of analysis are almost impossible.
Melford were totally dominant over the first period kicking down the steep slope at Shoemakers Lane. During that period The Villagers mustered some 26 attempts on goal.
Efforts from Jamie Griffiths, Hassan Ally and Ben Judge were saved by the post or crossbar but in the main by the excellent heroics of home keeper of Bradley Ironside who rightly was crowned the man of the match by the Swaffham supporters.
The best chance for Melford came when Jacob Brown headed with force towards the net, the ball was scrambled away with Melford claiming the ball had crossed the line.
The home team responded with five attacks that got near the Melford penalty area in the first period it proved enough to take a half time lead when on 39 minutes the speedy Bradley Yates got down the Swaffham right flank and his first time cross found TOMMY McDERMOTT, and his clinical finish found the Melford net.
The second half saw a boosted confidence which was very evident in the Swaffham team and they pressed Melford hard most of the half. On 58 minutes they increased their lead with a peach of a goal from HARRY BROOKS, a shot from 30 yards that took a slight deflection but found the roof of the net.
Again Melford had plenty of chances but lacked the finish to get back in the game. CHENOBERET
