Last night’s pre-season friendly report
A mixed reserve team including a sprinkling of first team regulars and trialists won 6-3 at Stoneylands last night against Brantham Athletic Reserves.
Melford went into an early lead when Trialist J netted from close range after 3 minutes. On 27 minutes Kyle Hurley increased the lead.
On 31 minutes Trialist J swivelled and shot home for his second goal. After 39 minutes Brantham got a goal back when Dido netted a fine solo goal. Just before the half time whistle trialist J got his hat trick and the Melford 4th goal.
On 52 minutes a Brantham penalty taken by Dido was well saved by Melford keeper Max Boulter with a diving effort. From the resultant corner Toby Owen-Jones got a second for Brantham.
On 55 minutes Trialist J got his fourth goal and the Melford 5th. A great far post header by James Dormady gave Melford their 6th goal.
Melford lost a bit of concentration at the end of the game, and a Brantham player lobbed the keeper Boulter from a distance.
An entertaining game with some good football from both teams. CHENOBERET
