Want to join Long Melford?
Our teams here at Stoneylands are welcoming new players next season.
On Saturday 19 June we’ll be running an open training session for players of all positions keen to join our progressive step five club as we embark on a new era.
We run three senior sides all competing in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties Premier, Reserve and U18s Leagues.
Our U18s, with new managerial duo Tom Rumsey and Dom Greetham at the helm, and our reserve team, with manager Dave Hennessey going into his second season at Long Melford, are looking to add to their squads for the new campaign.
And they are on the lookout for new blood to come to Stoneylands in what is an exciting period for the Villagers, with the brand new clubhouse set to open in time for the new season.
Meanwhile, the manager Jamie Bradbury hopes that those on show, like at last year’s open training, can impress and challenge for a place in the first team.
“For clubs like us, giving opportunities to young players is vital. They have to earn their chances, work hard and show the right attitude, but for those who tick those boxes, Melford is the perfect place for them to develop further.
“From last year’s trial sessions we have seen lads already progress into reserve football, while others have also been involved in our first team’s league and FA Cup campaign.”
He added: “This open training session it is the chance for players to progress into senior football.”
